Thanksgiving 2012

This year I got up early on Thanksgiving to start on the turkey. Kody went to see James Bond with my dad and Peter and Callan at 10 so I wanted to get as much of the cooking as I could finished before I was on my own with the kids.

I made a bacon blanketed herb turkey. And despite me melting my meat thermometer, it turned out really well. I also made bleu cheese and roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and cherry apple pie.

Dinner at my parents' house was at one, and the movie didn't get out until 12:30. Needless to say, we showed up late. I tried to get a few pictures of the kids while we were waiting for Kody to get back.

We invited our friend Lenka and her boyfriend Nick to my parents' house for dinner. Unfortunately Nick got called out of town at the last minute so only Lenka was able to join us, but we are so glad that she did! We had a great time. Grayer ate too many sweet potatoes and spent the night with a stomachache, but overall I think he enjoyed his first Thanksgiving.

Last Friday the Traverse Mountain Outlet Mall opened up. So we now have a mall, basically within walking distance of our house, with some of my favorite stores in it. Within six days of them opening I visited four times. Anyway, they opened at 10 pm Thanksgiving so my mom and sisters came down and we shopped for a couple hours. It was a lot of fun and we got lots of good stuff!
