In August when Kailee and I started discussing her Halloween costume, she was very much into the Dora DVD we played over and over in the car whenever we went anywhere. In this particular episode of Dora, Dora and Boots have to get past a witch (la bruja) on their journey. So Kailee told me she wanted to be a bruja for Halloween. Not a witch, a bruja.
Grayer was a cute little ghost. Kailee wore this costume her first Halloween too.
We woke up early Halloween morning to go to the parade at Amy's school. Then we dropped Daddy off at work and went to Grandma June's house for a couple hours. Grandpaul took some pictures of the kids in their costumes while we were there. Kailee turned everyone into frogs with her magic wand and had a great time chasing everyone and telling them "You better RUN!!"
At noon we went to Callan's work for a Halloween party. After Kailee recognized Callan underneath her costume, she had a great time.
Chunky started to get tired so we decided to head home a little after one. We got home just before two and my plan was to put Kailee down for a nap and get her up at 5:30 so that she would be rested enough for trick-or-treating. Well, she didn't sleep at all until just before 5 and then I had to wake her up a half hour later to leave and pick up Kody from work. We had to stop at Kody's friend's house on the way home to get something so we didn't get back to our neighborhood for trick-or-treating until close to 7 and I was sure Kailee would be super tired and cranky and awful. Kody took her around the neighborhood while I stayed with Grayer and handed out candy, and she was surprisingly good. Kody had an annoying client who kept calling and emailing him while they were out trick-or-treating, so they had to come back a little early, but Kailee ate a little of her candy and then I got her to eat most of her dinner. She went to bed without any tantrums and slept in the next morning. I took all of our Halloween decorations down the next morning because I was hosting a party on Saturday and didn't want to still have them up, and Kailee was very upset with me for doing that.
Kody went as the Doppler Effect this year. He started making his costume the first weekend in October.
Everyone thought he was a ref.
