Our sweet baby boy is five weeks old today. We feel like he has been with us forever and love having him here- even Kailee loves him! She still calls him Wiggle Baby and she laughs at all of the little noises and movements he makes. I had the best labor and delivery with him. I was induced at about 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19th. I got an epidural immediately this time (instead of putting it off like I did with Kailee) and hardly felt a thing. Things progressed quickly, but his head got stuck for about an hour, so my goal of delivering before noon didn't pan out. After about four hours, I only had to push twice and Grayer was here. He weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz. and was 20 inches long. We were so surprised that he actually had hair! He screamed and screamed while the nurses and daddy cleaned him up and put drops in his eyes. And as soon as they handed him back to me he stopped crying and snuggled with me for about an hour. For the rest of our hospital stay, we hardly heard him cry. He is so calm and mellow. He is a really good eater and has the cutest rolls and chins. He is such a good and easy baby, although not as good of a sleeper as his big sister was. In fact, he is so noisy when he sleeps that when he was one week old we had to move him up to his own room because we couldn't sleep with his grunts and snoring in the bassinet in our room.
A week after he was born, we dropped Eliot off at the MTC. Grayer will be Kailee's age when Eliot comes home from his mission to Washington D.C. I am hoping Kailee will still remember him when he gets back. She still talks about him, so that's a good sign.
Peter has been at basic training and tech school in Texas since March, so he will be able to meet Grayer when he gets home next month. Kody left on his first business trip yesterday. He is in Houston until tomorrow morning. We are struggling because we are not good at being separated. I miss him a lot. Kailee had her second birthday since I last wrote. We kept things simple this year because I was super pregnant and it has been very hot this summer. Kody took the day off work and we took Kailee golfing. Kody has been really into golfing this year so he wanted to get Kailee her own little golf clubs for her birthday. She wasn't too interested in them unfortunately. She plays with them around the house and pretends they are vacuums, and I even caught her trying to scrub a toilet with one. After golfing we met Amy at the Gateway and Kailee played on the splash pad there. She had a great time! Then we went home and ate the Dreamland BBQ ribs I ordered for Kody's birthday gift. The next day was Saturday and we had the grandparents over for birthday cake. We love this girl and can't believe she is two years old and a big sister!
