For this Mother's Day, Sidney and I decided to reminisce and blog about some of our favorite memories of our mothers. To be truly honest, we have far too many good memories of our mothers and it is impossable to narrow them down to a favorite or even a group of favorites. I will however tell you about the first time I met my mom. I was 5 years old and was very shy. When my dad brought my mom to the house to meet all of the kids, I ran off to my favorite hiding place, behind the big chair in the living room. I couldn't have been there for very long when a woman poked her head around the chair and said. "Hi, my name is Diane." I don't know how long we sat there staring at each other but eventually I asked, "Can I call you Mommy?" I have no idea where my dad and mom's relationship was at that moment but I am extremly grateful that they got married. Even though my mom may not be my birth mom, she is and always will be my mother.

One of my favorite memories of my mom is from when I was probably around four years old. I had just woken up crying from a bad dream and my mom came running to see what was the matter. I remember telling her I had had a bad dream and she asked me what my dream was about. I told her how two giant oreo cookies had chased me and eaten me up. As soon as I said it I realized how silly it sounded, and I just knew she was going to laugh at me and tell me how ridiculous my dream was. But she didn't. She held me and told me everything was going to be fine and that she wouldn't let any big cookies eat me. I am grateful to have a loving mother and appreciate the good example she has set for me.
Happy Mother's Day- we love you both so much!
