Since Kailee's personality has become more developed the last few months, it's been fun for Kody and I to point out traits and little quirks she inherited from both of us. I couldn't say that she's more like one of us than the other. We like to think that she got the best of both of us.
She is like me because:
-She loves shopping. She is perfectly happy to sit in her stroller and people watch. And she loves when I pick something out and show it to her. She claps her hands and smiles.
-She is impatient. One of my worst traits.
-She loves pink. Anything pink. She prefers her pink toys to all the others. And she loves her pink room. She will lay in her bed and talk to herself while she stares at her pink walls.
-She loves to sing. At church, in the car, in the tub, in her bed. She sings whether there's music or not. Sometimes when she's playing she'll randomly start dancing, so I think she always has a song in her head.
-I'm so proud that she shares one of my greatest loves in life- SHOES. When she was six months old I brought her home one day after work and found a package containing a couple pairs of shoes I had ordered on our doorstep. After ripping the package open I held the first pair of shoes up to inspect them. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Kailee's face light up with excitement. She bounced up and down while squealing and flailing her arms. (Which is pretty much the same thing I do when I see a pair of shoes I like.) I had heard before that there is a point in the mother-daughter relationship when the two souls connect. This was that point for Kailee and I. Since then I have purchased her first pair of heels. I'll have to post a picture of them sometime because they are adorable.
She is like her Daddy because:
-She loves to be outside. Sometimes when she's upset I take her outside to sit on the front step so she can watching the cars go by. Unfortunately for Kody I have never been an outdoors-y kind of girl, but now he finally has someone to play outside with.
-She loves Gramps and Meemaw. Kody has always been close to his parents and I've always known how much he loves them. And now Kailee loves to be with them too. When we went to lunch with them a week and a half ago Kailee was so excited to sit on Meemaw's lap and eat mashed potatoes. And when she was handed to Gramps she immediately gave him a big smooch on the lips.
-She will choose vegetables over fruits anyday. Kody has always been a big vegetable fan and I thought he was a weirdo because I love fruit. I ate a ton of fruit when I was pregnant so I was sure she'd be a fruit fan. She loves bananas but she could eat vegetables all day long- just like Daddy.
-She smiles like Daddy. Her smile doesn't neccessarily look like his but she smiles like him, if that makes sense. I've always made fun of Kody because when he smiles it only lasts a few seconds and then it completely disappears. Usually when people smile, it slowly fades away. But Kailee does the same thing as Daddy. It's pretty strange!
-She inherited her dad's best feature- beautiful blue eyes. Both Miss Kailee and her dad always get compliments on how pretty and blue their eyes are.
-She is NOT cuddly. This makes me sad because sometimes after a long day of missing her at work I just want to hold her and give her kisses all night. But that is not how she enjoys spending her evenings and she pushes me away so she can move on to her toys.
Some things, however, are quite unique to Miss Kailee and we can't figure out where she learned to like or do them.
These are things such as:
-grinding her teeth ALL DAY LONG
-using only her thumb and index finger to pick things up
-pointing at everything
-making her duck face
