First Sentence

This morning I was getting ready for the day in my bathroom. Kailee loves to be involved in my daily makeup and hair routine, so as usual, she wandered into the bathroom and collected her favorite toiletries from around the room to play with. (This usually includes hairspray, heat protectant and a few bottles of nail polish). Then she carried her treasures around and babbled to me while I finished getting ready. I have a full length mirror in the bathroom that is just low enough for Kailee to look into and see herself. It is constantly dirty because she loves to give her reflection big, slobbery kisses. Kailee set all of her treasures down and waddled over the mirror, but instead of giving it a kiss like usual she started giggling and pointing at her reflection. I looked over at her just in time to hear her say "I see Kay-ee." Perfect grammar and everything! I'm so proud of her first little sentence.

Last night when I got home from work our carbon monoxide detectors were going off and since Kody was still at work I had to figure out what to do on my own. I turned off the furnace and opened a bunch of windows but they kept going off so I ended up calling the fire department. The dispatcher told me to get out of the house so Kailee and I grabbed some books and waited on the front porch for the fire "gucks." She was so excited to see them when they came with all their shiny lights. One of the firemen gave her some bracelets and told her she could sit in the truck. She really liked the fire chief and babbled on and on to him about how she was a princess and she ate her dinner on a plate with a frog on it. He didn't understand a word but I knew what she was saying to him. It turns out everything was OK. The firemen couldn't get an accurate reading because I opened the windows (note to self: leave the house as-is next time) but they said our house was safe. I love this new stage Kailee is in where she can finally communicate with us and she's learning so many new words every day. It really surprises me how good her memory is and how smart she is! I can't believe how fast she's growing up.
