An Update

Miss Kailee is FIFTEEN MONTHS old now! There never was a sweeter, smarter, prettier, better baby than our little princess. She brings so much joy to our lives!

Toddlerhood is in full swing at our house. Kailee is babbling our ears off, feeding herself, making messes of our cupboards, eating our dish soap, and swinging her arm with pride as she trots around the house. Her little vocabulary is developing more everyday. We kind of stopped with the sign language since she was just pointing at everything she wanted and we didn't really have any communication issues with her, so the only word she signs anymore is "please." She frequently "talks on the phone" to anything that is remotely shaped like a phone (i.e. remote controls, nutter butters, iPods) to a select group of people only. These people include "da-da," "Bampa," and "CoCo" (Cory).

She LOVES to sing and dance. She sings to the radio in the car and sometimes she just starts singing when there's no music. A couple weeks ago we brought Kailee to a friend's wedding reception. She bobbed her head to the music the entire time we ate our dinner, and as soon as she had the chance to escape, she toddled off to the dance floor to join the wedding party in their lively dancing. After she got bored of dancing she headed off to the ladies' restroom to peek her little head under all the stalls. Toilets are also her new favorite thing.

Kailee's love of football has continued on this year, much to Kody's delight. Like last year, she is perfectly content to sit and stare at the TV for an entire game. She was tiny last football season but would get upset and cry when commercials came on during the game. This year she breaks from her trance during commercials, bolts up and says "where go???" complete with arm gestures and genuine concern.

Miss Kailee shares my love of organizing and was beyond thrilled when I allowed her to help me organize a bathroom cupboard a few weeks ago. She set to work with a very serious face and helped sort and transfer items to the garbage.

She also prefers to drink her beverages through a straw. More than one straw, if possible.

She loves to wear shoes with heels that are noisy on the hard floor. I bought her some new shoes with panda bears on them a few weeks ago and she had to wear them as soon as she saw them. (She is definitely my child). As soon as they were on she proceeded to lap the island in our kitchen 12 times so she could hear the clickety-clack sound they made. She wore them for the rest of the day and when bedtime came we had to strongly coax her to remove them only to discover two big blisters on her ankles. I felt so bad, but she never acted like they were bothering her so I never would have guessed they were hurting her feet. She was just so excited to be wearing them. From now on we only wear those shoes with socks.

As for Kody and I, we are doing pretty well. This month has been very challenging and very rewarding at the same time, so we really can't complain. I developed a case of shingles and within a week I also had mono. I promise I'm only 23 years old. I am feeling a lot better and have had a good streak of pain-free days. I am healing quickly so that is a blessing. Kody is taking four classes this semester and is doing well- as usual. Work has been extremely busy and stressful for him but his hard work is definitely paying off. He got promoted to management last month and that came with a big raise- also a blessing. We are very much looking forward to celebrating our fifth anniversary in the Bahamas next month!!
