I pulled into our garage yesterday after work and noticed a huge box leaning against our front door. Feeling very puzzled as to why someone would try to barricade us inside our house with cardboard, I opened the front door and let the box fall into our entry way. The words "Badger Basket" were printed across it. Now let me first mention that my mind is not as sharp as it once was these days. I frequently forget simple every day things and it's very frustrating. I wondered to myself, is Kody getting me a pet badger?? He hates animals. And I don't think I like badgers...
Finally, I decided to just open the box. And suddenly I remembered. It was Kailee's bassinet that I ordered last week. I pulled and pushed the box into our room and tore it open. I was so excited to set it up until I realized it was in pieces and it came with a bag of screws. That means Kody gets to do it.
I picked up the instruction book and looked through the diagrams. Then I thought about where I could put it in our room after Kody put it together. Thinking about how cute it was going to look made me very impatient. After a little while I decided it couldn't be so hard so I might as well give it a try.
So I got a screwdriver and somewhat followed the instructions. It was intense work and I lost track of time. After an hour and a half I was startled by Kody getting home from work. He was startled by the mess of cardboard, packing materials, and parts littering our room. But most of all by the sight of me using a screwdriver. There was nothing to say. He knelt down next to me and looked at the bassinet for a few seconds. Then he took the screwdriver from me and disassembled a few parts I had toiled over for so long. In a matter of minutes the bassinet was standing and complete.
Since I lack the energy to waddle to our room and snap a quick picture of the finished product, I have displayed a picture from the website I ordered it on. Remarkably, it does very closely resemble this picture so I have every confidence that it will not collapse with our child in it. And I still don't know why they call it a Badger Basket.
